Trailer

The sceptical part of me thinks that…
…there are some sound reasons why I shouldn’t be spotting this movie ;)
Firstly, I think it’s looking pretty theatrical. It’s based on a play and from the trailer and other clips it really looks like it’s going to use quite a few theatrical kind of approaches.
Secondly, a critical view of the church can get cliché very easily - especially if they’re taking a theatrical approach to it.

The excited part of me thinks that…
…if they’re nominating four actors in the film for Academy Awards then there’s a good chance that the acting in it will be strong *grin* And I can picture Philip Seymour Hoffman being really good in a part like this.
While I have read some stuff about the nuns being exaggerated etc., the reviews do seem to suggest that the characters all have a human side and that the way the conflict is presented is not one-sided at all.

Slumdog Millionaire (UK/France, 2008)

I’ve already spotted this one here and I think I’m even more excited about it than I was then ;) It’s coming out on the 27th, but I’ll probably be trying to see at early screenings or something like that if at all possible - I just can’t wait! *grin*
