And yet more Harry Potter film news…
The extent to which the new Harry Potter film is featuring on my blog is ridiculous ;) It’ll be hilarious if I see the film in July and then declare it’s awful lol
Anyway, here’s the latest news that caught my eye…
New Character Posters
So far I’ve not been too keen on the posters, some of them have looked far too photoshopped, but I really like the concept of the four new ones. Each poster has one of the goodies in the front and someone with “a darker nature” in the back. Here they are:
- Harry — Draco
This is my favourite one *grin* They make a really good pairing as evidenced by the amount of slash fan fiction that pairs the two up together ;) (they’re the most popular slash pairing in the Harry Potter fandom if I’m not mistaken)
The “pairing” makes a lot of sense for the poster in light of a new interview with Daniel Radcliffe in which he says that for him the core of the film is paranoia and he specifically talks about Harry’s increasing paranoia about Draco being a Death Eater. I’m glad to hear that’s kept in, I thought they may have chucked that. I hope they play it out similarly in the film in that the viewers won’t be able to tell whether Harry is being stupid or whether his paranoia has any basis. - Dumbledore — Snape
This is a less popular ship in slash fan fiction, but not exactly an unknown one ;) There’s plenty of stories which claim this is the real reason for Dumbledore trusting Snape ;)
But anyway, I love the poster and again it makes a lot of sense in context of the film… or at least in context of the book ;) There’s some very important stuff going on between Dumbledore and Snape in this one… - Hermione — Slughorn
Ok, this one I totally don’t get lol Firstly, Slughorn isn’t really that dark except for maybe one thing, so it’s the one poster that doesn’t quite adher to the general concept. Secondly, I really don’t get why they insist on pairing up Hermione and Slughorn lol (it’s the second time they’ve done this) Maybe it’ll be more obvious once the film is out. I guess she will have a fair amount of scenes with him as she’s in the Slug Club and all… - Ron — Fenrir Greyback
I don’t quite get this pairing either, but then they’ve been meddling with the battle bits of the plot AFAIK, so it might be clearer once the film is out, we shall see *grin*
Rupert Grint rocks apparently *grin*
He seems to be getting more attention than usual, so I’m excited about that :) This is what Yates (the director) has said in a recent interview:
“He’s always been the funny one, but he has so much more as an actor than that. In Prince, he has lovely stuff that’s funny and true, but in Deathly Hallows, he must be defensive and haunted, and Rupert took to that like a duck to water. I’m always thankful that Jo Rowling gave us a world that allowed us to turn corners with the actors.”
The Deathly Hallows praise is particularly interesting to me, I’m going to be really looking forward to that *grin*
It sounds like his knock-out scene in film no. 6 is a Quidditch scene. Here’s what Emma Watson said recently:
What really stuck out for me was Ron’s Quidditch scene. It was so funny. Rupert’s comic timing is just brilliant and he’s so funny.
And Daniel Radcliffe joins in too:
My favorite scene in the film, actually, is one that I’m that not in, which is probably not that surprising because I hate watching myself. It’s with Rupert (Ron) in Quidditch practice, and it is genuine laugh-out-loud funny. And I don’t laugh out loud that easily.
Deathly Hallows film news
There’s plenty of photos from the shooting out now - particularly from the shoot in the centre of London. It’s looking rather exciting I think :)
Also, there’s an interview with Daniel Radcliffe and David Heyman (the producer), in which the first Deathly Hallows film is described as “a road movie”, which I really like the sound of *grin*
