A gay romance that is making American distributors nervous (I love you Phillip Morris spotted)

The sceptical part of me thinks that…
The reviews are quite mixed, which could mean a lot of things and I’m not sure I like the trailer…
The excited part of me thinks that…
…the premise is just too good to miss ;) I’ve been excited about this ever since I saw the first promotional photo, which was ages ago. Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor as lovers is just such a hilarious image to me ;)
What totally gets me though is the more recent news. I rather thought that it would be a fairly coy romance (which would have been fine by me - the idea of them playing lovers amuses me enough not to need them to get particularly physical ;)). Apparently, Hollywood distributors thought so too and we were all wrong lol Check this out:
“The depiction of the sexual activity was far more than I’ve ever seen in a mainstream film with a mainstream celebrity,” said Lewis Tice, director of publicity and marketing for TLA Releasing. “There’s a graphic sex scene in the first 10 minutes that I was surprised to see.”
I think this is really hilarious (I know Ewan McGregor is not exactly a stranger to graphic sex scenes, but still ;) ). It has a sad side to it as well unfortunately. While the film doesn’t seem to be having many problems securing distribution deals in Europe, graphic gay sex is apparently likely to force the film straight to DVD in the US *sigh*
Edited to Add: Just looked at the imdb boards and it sounds like what’s got the US distributors all up in arms is not that it’s that graphic (at least certainly not in Ewan’s standards ;)), it’s that it’s oral *rolls eyes*
